Frank J. Serazin, age 88, of North Ridgeville, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Center Ridge Health Campus, following a long illness.
Born in Lorain, he had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1951.
He served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Destroyer Norman Scott.
Frank worked as a maintenance supervisor for US Steel in Lorain for 37 years, retiring in 1981. He served on the North Ridgeville Planning Commission.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville where he was a 3rd Degree with Knights of Columbus 7970 and involved with the Holy Name Society.
He enjoyed woodworking, building furniture and authentic scale models of American sailing vessels, weaving looms and taught weaving at Oberlin Senior Center.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mary Ann (nee Benko); daughters, Jane (Robert) Halsall of Algonquin, Ill., Amy (Bill) Ferron of Mercer Island, Washington, Ellen (David) Jones of Birmingham, AL, Hallie Serazin (Jim Wilson) of Delaware; son, Scott (Rebecca) of Elyria; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marie Serazin; sisters, Adeline and Lillian Serazin.
Friends may call Saturday from 9 AM until the time of Memorial Mass at 10 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Rev. Bob Franco will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.
